Isn't There Another Way

Have you ever been told that there is more than one way to skin a cat?  My first thought when I hear that is "Why would I want to skin a cat?".  We often think about new ways to do things, better ways to achieve our goals, and how to build a better mousetrap (which you might have to do if you are being overrun by mice after skinning your cat!).

There are a whole bunch of "religions" that are out there.  There are Methodists, Muslims, Baptists, Buddhists, Catholics, Coptics...I could probably do a pair for every letter in the alphabet.  There are increasing numbers of atheists (people who don't believe in God).  There are others who adopt the "coexist" movement...where religions are all the same and lead you to the same destination.
Mere hours before his death, Jesus spent some time in prayer.  He cried out to God asking Him if there could be another way, but then came to the conclusion that God's will had to be done.  It is found in Matthew 26.  Think about it.  Jesus asked his Father if there was another way...and there wasn't.  The redemption of mankind had to be achieved in this terrible manner.  Mankind needed to know that their sin was so terrible that it required a terrible penalty...one that the son of God was willing to take on himself.
1 Timothy 2:5 tells us "There is one God. There is also one mediator between God and humans-a human, Christ Jesus."  There is no other way to be saved from your sins!
Most awesome Father,
We are humbled by the awesome price that your Son paid for our sins.  May we never question the path you have set before us.  There is only one road to salvation.  Help us to keep our feet on that straight and narrow!
In Jesus name,
Amen
