Sermon Notes:
Promises in Jeremiah 29:10-14

1. I will come to you and fulfill my good promise to bring you back to this place;
2. I know the plans I have for you, plans to prosper you and not harm you, plans to give
you a future and a hope;
3. Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you;
4. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.
5. I will be found by you, and restore your fortunes and gather you from all the places
where I have driven you and I will bring you back to the place from which I sent you
into exile.

Group 1
2 Chronicles 36:21, “The land enjoyed its sabbath rests; all the time of its desolation it rested,
until the seventy years were completed in fulfillment of the word of the LORD spoken by
Jeremiah.” (NIV)
Daniel 9:2, “In the first year of his reign, I, Daniel, understood from the Scriptures, according to
the word of the LORD given to Jeremiah the prophet, that the desolation of Jerusalem would last
seventy years.” (NIV)
Deuteronomy 4:29, “But if from there you seek the LORD your God, you will find him if you
seek him with all your heart and with all your soul.” (NIV)
Group 2
Acts 17:27, “God did this so that they would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find
him, though he is not far from any one of us.” (NIV)

Hebrews 11:6, “And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to
him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.” (NIV)
Group 3
Luke 9:57-58, “As they were walking along the road, a man said to him, ‘I will follow you
wherever you go.’ Jesus replied, ‘Foxes have dens and birds have nests but the Son of Man has
no place to lay his head.”’
Luke 14:26-27, “If anyone comes to me and does not hate his father and mother, wife and
children, brothers and sisters—yes, even their own life—such a person cannot be my disciple.
2 Timothy 3:12, “Indeed, all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will be persecuted” (ESV)
John 15:20b “If they persecuted Me, they will also persecute you”. (ESV)
Matthew 6:33, “But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be
given to you as well.” (NIV)
Group 4
Psalm 33:12 Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord.” (NIV)
Genesis 12:3, “I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all the
peoples on earth will be blessed through you.” (NIV)
Application

1. Rest in God, knowing that He has a plan and is able to carry it out.
a. That fact should bring us great comfort.

b. 2 Timothy 1:9, “He has saved us and called us to a holy life--not because of anything
we have done but because of his own purpose and grace. This grace was given us in
Christ Jesus before the beginning of time.” (NIV)
c. Ephesians 1:4, “For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy
and blameless in his sight.” (NIV)

2. Be assured that if we call on God’s name and seek him with all of our hearts, he listens, and
we will find him.
a. This is not a superficial seeking, rather, it is digging deep into scripture, praying, and
desiring that our relationship with God will grow stronger and deeper day after day. 2
Timothy 1:9, Ephesians 1:4

3. Pray and search your heart and know where that line is between being obedient to the
government and deciding that it is better to obey God rather than man.
