The Theology of God’s Holiness in Leviticus
August 9, 2020
1. The holy God called His people to be ethically holy.
-This included separation from sin:
-Leviticus 17-26 (The Holiness Code)
-Leviticus 19:2
2. The holy call also called His people to be ritualistically holy.
-This included separation from physical defilements:
-Leviticus 1:9 (Cleanliness with the animals sacrificed)
-Leviticus 11:46-47 (Cleanliness in diet)
-Leviticus 12-14 (Cleanliness in health practices)
-Leviticus 14:33-57 (Cleanliness in life habits)
Life Application:
1. The command of Leviticus 19:2 has not changed from Israel to us.
2. We obey God’s commands because they are God’s commands.
3. Obedience gives God glory.
4. We owe God everything, including our obedience.
5. God cares about us in our entirety.
