It is Finished

Easter passed by us a week ago, and the Covid-19 virus kept us all hunkered down in our homes.  Easter is a time to reflect on our redeemer and the great work that he did when he paid the price for our sins.  Usually this is done in a packed church service with everyone, even youth pastors, dressed up for the occasion.  During this season one of my favorite songs to listen to is an old hit from Petra called "It is finished".  My favorite line in the song is when "tore the temple veil in two".  It reminds me of how we used to be separated from God but the work that Jesus finished on the cross made a way for us to enter into God's presence.
So what was on the other side of that veil when the temple veil was torn?  History tells us that the Ark of the Covenant was no longer there as it had been removed many years earlier.  Was it a spiritual leader?  A copy of the ESV bible?  An altar?  An Easter service full of well dressed parishioners?  No, the only thing on the other side of that veil was nothing...and everything.  The veil being torn was a sign that we weren't cut off from God anymore.  We could now talk to God ourselves.  We don't need a High Priest to enter the Holy of Holies for us once a year and pray for our forgiveness...we can do that every second of every day.  We can talk to God and lay our petitions before Him.
Heavenly Father, thank you for letting us come into Your presence.  Thank you for making a way for us.  Keep our hearts set on you.
In Jesus name,
Amen
