March 19, 2020 The Anti-dote

Unless you have been hiding under a rock (and if you have...good job on your social distancing!) you have noticed that everyone seems to be out buying up everything from canned and frozen goods to toilet paper and hand sanitizer.  One man bought up almost 18,000 bottles of hand sanitizer in an attempt to price gouge.  A wheelchair bound friend of mine told of being nearly tackled by crazed shoppers.  The craziness is ridiculous!
We need to be anti-selfish during these times.  In Luke 3:7-11 we read:
John said to the crowds coming out to be baptized by him, "You brood of vipers! Who warned you to flee from the coming wrath? Produce fruit in keeping with repentance. And do not begin to say to yourselves, 'We have Abraham as our father.' For I tell you that out of these stones God can raise up children for Abraham. The ax is already at the root of the trees, and every tree that does not produce good fruit will be cut down and thrown into the fire." "What should we do then?" the crowd asked. John answered, "Anyone who has two shirts should share with the one who has none, and anyone who has food should do the same."
John the Baptist offered some good advice.  Quit storing up for yourself, quit being selfish, and start thinking of others.  The antidote to this crazy time is to be selfless instead of selfish, polite instead of political, and giving instead of grabbing!
For discussion:
1.  How does sharing show faith?
2.  How can we give while retaining "social distance"?
