It's a Downward Spiral

One of the most amazing people in the Bible is King David.  He started out as a shepherd, killed a giant, became king, and became a mighty warrior.  Then 2 Samuel 11 happened.  In that passage, David started out by just not doing what he was supposed to do.  Instead of going to battle he decided to stay home.  Then he didn't look away from Bathsheba's bathing (I know...Bathsheba in a "bath" tub).  He should have right away averted his eyes but instead he allowed sin to grow.  He found out that she was married but committed adultery with her anyway.  Then, to top it all off, he murdered her husband to hide his sin.

Sin is that way.  You might think you can hold that fire to your chest and not get burned but God knows all.  You never get away with sin, and the more that you think you get away with it the deeper into sin you are willing to dive.  The best plan...avoid sin.  If you fail to avoid it then confess it.  Don't let seeds of sin turn into weeds of addiction.  God is willing to run to you and forgive your transgressions!
Heavenly Father, help us to stand up against the temptations in our lives.  When we do sin, give us a desire to confess our sins to you and accept your forgiveness.  Protect us from traveling deeper and deeper into sin's entanglements.  In Jesus name I pray, amen!
