By the Skin of my Nose

A couple of days ago I went in to the skin doctor and once again had some pre-cancerous skin frozen.  What they do is freeze the skin in hopes to kill the cancerous cells before they continue.  This spot for me is right in the center of my face...on my nose.  The result of this procedure has left a great big scaly, oozy spot that seems to draw the attention of everyone I run into.  While I do enjoy the pity that I receive, the disgusted looks that this open wound has garnered can be a little tiresome.
I wonder if sometimes we look at the people who God created and do the same thing.  We look at their imperfections, their sins, and their shortcomings when we should be looking at them the same way as God does.  In Luke 17:11-14 we read what Jesus did when he saw some stinky, oozy lepers.
Now on his way to Jerusalem, Jesus traveled along the border between Samaria and Galilee.  As he was going into a village, ten men who had leprosy met him.  They stood at a distance and called out in a loud voice, "Jesus, Master, have pity on us!"  When he saw them, he said, "Go show yourselves to the priests."  And as they went, they were cleansed."
This story has a lot for us.  When we see someone who is dirty...physically, health-wise, or spiritually...we shouldn't turn up our nose or run away.  Instead, Jesus had compassion on them.  He treated them with respect and met their needs.  How can we do any different!?!
Heavenly Father, thank you for loving us...imperfections and all.  Thank you that your desire is to heal us and restore us.  Help us to look past the imperfections in others and truly love them, just like Jesus did.  In Jesus name, amen!
