A Cold Friday Night

Our final fifth quarter happened this past Friday night, and it was cold!  Not cold with a period.  Cold with an exclamation mark!  To be honest, it really wasn't that bad but we are in Southwest Kansas and cold means a lot different here than it would up in Canada where I grew up.
Sometimes we find ourselves getting spiritually cold.  This can happen when our faith grows weak, our love for God and others begins to wane, our prayers seem hollow, or when the bible doesn't seem to be meaningful...or all those things at once.
On Friday night when we started to get cold we had many options.  We could sit close to the bonfire.  We could go inside the garage and warm up.  We could put on warmer clothes.
If you find your spiritual self growing cold there are steps you can take that will help.  You can draw closer to Jesus, the source of our spiritual life.  You can go to a fellowship (like a church or youth group) and warm up with others.

You can put on the spiritual armor described in Ephesians.  Then, when Satan is tossing those fiery arrows at you, you can be roasting marshmallows on them instead of being burned by them!

Video to warm you up
Heavenly Father,
Thank you so much for caring about us.  You care about every aspect of our lives.  When we are feeling cold, lonely, and weak in our faith help us to seek You with vigor.  As it says in Your word, we will find you when we seek you with all our heart.  Your love warms us!
Amen
